The Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB) is seeking a dynamic, visionary, and experienced Catholic leader who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to the important mission and ministry of Catholic education as its new Director of Education and Secretary-Treasurer to the Board. The effective date of the appointment will be on or before September 2, 2024 – to be mutually negotiated in concert with the Board.

Situated just east of Toronto, on the traditional lands of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island, in the diverse and growing Durham Region, the Durham Catholic District School Board shares a sense of community with families, staff and parishes. Guided by the teachings of Jesus, the DCDSB is renowned for providing a comprehensive, faith-centered Catholic education with 38 elementary schools, 7 secondary schools and 9 alternative and continuing education sites. The Board currently serves approximately 22,888 elementary and secondary students in Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax, Pickering, and the townships of Uxbridge, Scugog and Brock, as well as thousands of adult and continuing education learners.

Reporting to the board of eight (8) elected trustees, the Director will work with a dedicated senior administrative team and staff across the system to advance the Board’s Mission: “to be an inclusive Catholic learning community that inspires every student to achieve their full potential through faith and education”, and its compelling Vision and Values through the successful execution of the Board’s 2023-2026 Strategic Plan – Inspire 2026, and responsible implementation of the board’s budget. For further information about DCDSB, visit: www.dcdsb.ca.

The successful candidate will be an inspiring Catholic leader who demonstrates a strong commitment to Gospel values, the teachings of Christ and the Catholic Church. They will bring an outstanding record of achievement, including depth and breadth of experience, vision, and credentials, with the ability to lead a large, complex Catholic school board in Ontario. They will have the ability to effectively communicate at all levels to continue to build upon strong internal and external relationships and partnerships. They will champion the Board’s strategic priorities of supporting faith and well-being, advancing human rights and equity, and improving student learning while utilizing an open, engaging and highly collaborative style of leadership.
