The Halton Catholic District School Board (HCDSB), in partnership with home and Church, is an inclusive and equitable learning community dedicated to providing excellence in Catholic education by developing Christ-centred individuals enabled to transform society. A provincial leader in student achievement, Halton Catholic District School Board provides exceptional educational experiences and services to over 37,000 students of all ages across our 46 elementary schools, 10 secondary schools, and 3 continuing education facilities, serving the wider Catholic communities of Burlington, Halton Hills, Milton, and Oakville.
The successful candidate will assume supervision responsibilities for managing and overseeing the Special Education Services department, as well as a K-12 Family of Schools, and assigned portfolios as directed by the Director of Education. Superintendent portfolios are reviewed annually by the Director of Education and are subject to change based on needs of the Halton Catholic District School Board.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate must possess:
• Ontario Supervisory Officer’s Certification
• Certificate of Qualification and Registration in good standing from the Ontario College of Teachers
• Special Education, Part 2; Special Education, Specialist is considered an asset
• Anti-Black Racism, Part 1 is considered an asset
DESIRED ASSETS:
• Demonstrated progressive, successful Catholic School leadership experience at the school and Board level;
• A strong commitment to Catholic Schools and communities and enhancing the partnership between home, school, and Parish;
• Positive interpersonal relationships with staff, students, parents, and other members of the school community;
• Experience on Board and/or Ministry of Education Committees is an asset;
• Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in a broad spectrum of educational areas such as: Special Education programs, Equity and Inclusive Education, Student Mental Health, curriculum development and implementation, student success, instructional strategies, assessment and evaluation, and safe schools’ legislation;
• Demonstrated school and Board-level leadership and problem-solving skills;
• Knowledge and understanding of strategies for improving student achievement;
• Demonstrated knowledge and successful implementation of Ontario’s Education Equity Action Plan;
• Demonstrated experience, notably lived experience, in creating safe, inclusive, equitable, learning environments that are free from discrimination;
• Demonstrated experience, notably lived experience, in identifying and addressing systemic barriers to equitable educational outcomes for all students;
• Demonstrated knowledge of the academic, corporate, and operational functions of the work of a Catholic School Board. notably
Candidates meeting the requirements are invited to submit a current résumé, outlining qualifications, experience, and their personal philosophy of education. A current Pastoral Reference for a Leadership Position in Catholic Education (dated within the last twelve months), a minimum of two professional letters of reference, one of which must be from your current Superintendent, with written authorization to contact the references must be included.
