The Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB) seeks an inspiring and visionary Catholic leader to serve as the next Director of Education & Secretary/Treasurer to the Board of Trustees. This is an exceptional opportunity to lead a large and vibrant Catholic school system located on the traditional and unceded territory of the Algonquin Nation.

As one of the largest Catholic school boards in the province of Ontario and providing a distinctive Catholic education to more than 50,000 students, the OCSB is recognized as an innovative, collaborative and fiscally responsible Board that is committed to fostering a strong sense of community with families, staff and parishes. With an operating budget of over $700 million, the Board operates 89 schools. It employs over 5,000 full-time staff translating into an exciting and complex leadership mandate for the new Director of Education & Secretary/Treasurer to the Board.

Reporting to the Board of ten (10) municipally elected trustees and two (2) student trustees, the Director of Education & Secretary/Treasurer will lead a dedicated and talented senior administrative team and be responsible for meeting the expectations of the Board of Trustees. The successful candidate will have an excellent record as a progressive, inclusive, critical and creative-thinking Catholic educator. They will also be a collaborative and dynamic leader who embraces innovation to advance the Board’s mission, vision and values as a leader in 21st-century Catholic education. The role of Director of Education for the OCSB further requires candidates to have demonstrated a deep commitment to the mission and ministry of Catholic education. This, combined with a strong commitment to equity and inclusion, student achievement, well-being and truth and reconciliation are key indicators of the ideal candidate.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to inspire and motivate others, possess exceptional communication skills and demonstrate the ability to build and maintain strong positive relationships with staff, stakeholders, and community members. In addition, they will have strong financial acumen and provide strategic financial leadership and direction to the Board.
