The Sudbury Catholic District School Board invites applications for the position of Superintendent of Education. We are seeking a people-focused Catholic leader who will champion student success and well-being in our innovative and growing school system. As part of the senior team, the successful candidate will assume system-level responsibilities including supervision of a K-12 family of schools and other portfolios which are reviewed annually by the Director of Education and may be adjusted in response to evolving system needs.
The anticipated start date for this position is August 18, 2025, or another mutually agreed-upon date.

Located in beautiful northeastern Ontario at the intersection of three major highways, our Board serves a diverse and vibrant community, that spans urban, suburban, rural, and scenic wilderness areas. We proudly support 12 elementary schools, 4 Grade 7-12 schools, and 1 adult learning centre. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a passionate advocate for Catholic education, a skilled systems thinker, and a collaborative leader with demonstrated success. They will possess:
- Completion or active enrollment in the Ontario Supervisory Officer’s Qualification Program, with appropriate supporting documentation
- Membership in good standing with the Ontario College of Teachers
- Completion of Parts 1 & 2 Religious Education Additional Qualifications Program
- Progressive and successful experience in leadership roles in education
- A strong commitment to Catholic education and the school-home-parish relationship
- Proven ability to manage system level challenges, such as budget constraints, policy changes, and conflicting priorities of stakeholders
- A deep understanding of the principles and practices of equity, diversity, inclusion, and well-being as well as a proven track record of implementing strategies that promote these values
- Experience in addressing systemic barriers, championing diverse perspectives, and creating safe and supportive learning spaces for all students and staff.
- Proven instructional leadership and a demonstrated understanding of curriculum, assessment, and equity-focused programming from K–12
- Experience in elementary and secondary program development, including Ministry initiatives
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to lead and implement change by identifying, analyzing, and researching system-level issues to drive informed decision-making and sustainable improvement
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively and contribute to a positive, team-oriented environment
- Fluency in French is considered an asset

Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Education, the Superintendent will:
- Provide system leadership in support of student achievement, and well-being across a K-12 family of schools
- Advance a variety of portfolios including Mathematics, Secondary Programing and Safe Schools
- Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic planning and system improvement initiatives
- Lead and manage assigned areas of responsibility ensuring alignment with Ministry of Education policies and the board’s Multi-Year Strategic Plan
- Lead system-wide innovation and change by using data-informed analysis and research to guide strategic decision-making
- Participate in system-level decision-making, budget planning, labour relations, negotiations, grievance resolution and staffing processes
- Establish and maintain strong, respectful relationships with principals, educators, support staff, families, union partners, parishes and other stakeholders
Foster a collaborative leadership culture grounded in ethical practices, accountability, and continuous improvement
