The St. Clair Catholic District School Board invites applications for the position of Director of Education and Secretary to the Board. The effective date for appointment is April 1, 2025.

Situated in beautiful southwestern Ontario, the St. Clair Catholic District School Board (SCCDSB) encompasses a large area of over 5,000 square kilometers, including Sarnia-Lambton and Chatham-Kent. With approximately 9,300 students, 22 elementary schools, 2 secondary schools, 1,900 staff, and an annual operating budget of $141 million, the St. Clair Catholic District School Board is committed to providing its students with an outstanding, faith-based learning environment that focusses on educating the ‘whole’ child.

They will have the ability to effectively communicate at all levels to continue to build upon strong internal and external relationships and partnerships, while utilizing an open, engaging and highly collaborative style of leadership.

Overall Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Associate Director of Education – Instructional Services, the Superintendent of Education: Family of Schools has responsibility for providing innovative leadership and administrative effectiveness within a family of schools in implementing board policy, appropriate curriculum initiatives, parent engagement, and liaison with parishes. The Superintendent of Education is responsible for ensuring that the integration of programs and services offered in the Dufferin-Peel schools within the Family of Schools is current, appropriate, and consistent with the board’s philosophy of Catholic education in keeping with the board’s mission statement, Multi-Year Strategic Plan (MYSP) and in conformity with the policy, guidelines and standards issued by the Ministry of Education and within the overall Acts and Regulations of the province.

The ideal candidate will bring to the position:

• an exemplary record of demonstrated commitment to the Catholic faith and to Catholic education
• a record of progressive leadership experiences coupled with superior communication and interpersonal skills
• successful experience as a Principal
• demonstrated practice of school improvement, student achievement and well-being
• ability to cultivate positive working relationships with trustees, the ministry of education, associations, municipalities, and other school boards.
• demonstrated understanding of the diverse nature of our school communities
• experience in fostering communities in diverse settings with multiple stakeholders in a collegial and collaborative manner
• the ability to engage in collaborative planning and creative problem solving
• expertise in instructional leadership and commitment to educational programs and services that respects and upholds the philosophy and traditions of Catholic schools in Dufferin-Peel and throughout the Province of Ontario.
• a record of comprehensive experience in school and board-wide activities.
• a record of exemplary leadership in publicly funded Catholic education.
• understanding the importance of the integration between the instructional and corporate departments of the board in increasing student achievement and well being
• Ontario Supervisory Officer qualifications preferably obtained from the Catholic Community Delivery Organization
• Religious Education, Part III

Interested applicants are required to submit a resume, fully detailing qualifications, and experience and a six (6) month entry plan emphasizing the Catholic nature of our schools, Student achievement and the Strategic and System Directions as articulated in the MYSP. All packages must include proof of qualifications including Supervisory Officer qualifications*, Religious Education Part III, four (4) letters of reference including a pastoral reference letter from the applicant’s Parish Priest, and one letter from the applicant’s current Superintendent/Supervisor. All letters of reference must be dated within one year of the date of application. Additionally, applicants must include a one-page Philosophy of Catholic Education as it pertains to the position sought.

*All applicants must have completed all modules and the practicum for the SOQP at the time of application and provide a letter from the qualifying body confirming the completion.
